That night, dinner was under the stars Wine glasses glittered in the candlelight It was a perfect summer evening, the trees were the walls And even the galaxy joined us for the ceiling. Feeling thankful for all of this and more I was lucky to sit next to someone new. She has left a lasting impression with her unique expression And a cheeky, Infectious Giggle. She might say the world sits in a teacup And that would be because her view is sunny-side-up Her smile is huge and her big blue eyes are ice-cream pretty She loves to chatter and sing And I soon learned She has a positive take on everything So proud to be nearly twenty-three and be taller than me. So she told me her story, With just a gentle nudge from her mom and dad. While they lovingly sit a subtle elbow’s length, They told me, she’s discovered romance. There’s a boy she adores and they married in class First cooking, then pottery and then for a surprise, After coffee break, one summer morning He studiously designed and made her an engagement ring. He painstakingly sat and threaded fine colourful beads Of love-full, sunny yellow And in the middle of the band No less than a heavenly, hand-crafted, purple solitaire. She was swept like a feather off her feet, Her heart lifted up and sailed over the moon. Delighted, she gave him the tightest of hugs. She has all the answers in that vitamin smile Every time she tells me her romantic tale, Every time she remembers the kiss. She’s so excited there’s finally only a week until back to school! Back to cookery, sewing, making jewellery and learning the kitchen She's truly looking forward to doing it all again It’s magical that every day is new, Even if the world is a riddle And speaking might be a tongue twister of fun, Being proposed to in school Was the best of all
