It really feels like things are permanently changing, doesn't it? Hot summers used to be simply hot.. now they are threatening in ways I never experienced growing up. Wildfires were rare, even when it was just as hot. There is a wildfire bordering my brother's property as I type this, and it isn't too far from our beautiful mountain town. The wind has picked up, and so has the worry.

You have found yourself a beautiful oasis by the sea, dear Pipp. May it keep you cool and comforted as you find glimmers and sparkles along the shoreline. I just might have to get myself out of bed early one of these mornings and take a dip in the lake. It would be so peaceful. xo

My first summer in the Mediterranean, Pipp, and of course heard about the heat in Spain, France, my home country Switzerland, and many others. I moved to Greece in June and we had the luck of one of the most pleasant summers in the region in decades. Temperatures have risen now, but only for a few days. I keep fingers crossed, for your corner as well. Summers are now probably truly the season almost everyone is happy when it is over. The sad thing about fires, I think, is that they are almost always started because of human behaviour. On Saturday night I heard fireworks!

To still bring you back to the beauty of cicadas, I happen to have written about them on Sunday, as they are a new part of my life now. https://danielamuehlheim.substack.com/p/from-ground-level-aus-dem-untergrund

Also, I desperately want to see a „Nature“ category on Substack.
