"As tiny as pencil shavings"--I love this image. Also loved the recording. Very well done.

And thank you ever so much for including me in a list of writers here who love birds. What a beautiful list to be included among indeed.

To winged magic and getting lost in it whenever we need to remember the goodness and beauty of this world!

Thanks Holly for your lovely words.

Yes a corner of this world to shelter away from fag packet economics! And blundering politics

I see I am not the only one who loved ‘ tiny as pencil shavings’ lovely xxx

Thanks Sarah. A simple post today. Lovely to know what stands out for you

Hi Pipp. To your bird list I would add Rebecca Hooper / Between Two Seas. And this Thursday’s letter from the moss will definitely be birdy.

Beautiful images as ever ; I love strolling with you and I too love the birds, though I need to go and find a picture of a serin now, that's a new one for me! Thank you so much for the mention Pipp - I'm gathering my courage and my ink, and coming close to launching my publication!

I’ve listened to this beautiful story of yours four times all ready . Captivating Pipp , your voice so calm I could close my eyes and totally be there . Thank you so much . ♥️

Pipp Warner's avatar

Oh I am so happy you liked it!so happy you felt some calm🩷 I did it twice. The second was a better recording with bird sounds - I’m curious which one did you listen to?

I listened to this one Pipp . Just read again , the ☀️ is shining, birds are singing and a perfect story 🎶

So glad you enjoyed it that makes me very happy

Beautifully written and narrated Pipp, so evocative and descriptive, I felt as if I were there with you, watching the birds flit, silver and black, across the sky. I love being able to listen to writers reading their own words 💛 and thank you for including me is such a wonderful list of writers, I am honoured 💛

Hi Emily you so belong in that group Emily, totally in awe of what you do!

Thanks so much for your kind words xx

I also loved the 'tiny as pencil shavings' image! What a beautiful description of the birds - you have a poetic way with words that I greatly admire. I found that epic murmuration I witnessed incredibly hard to convey with words - you have done so perfectly.

Thanks for linking me into this too! 🤗

Pipp that was gorgeous, not only the writing but to hear your voice too! I, as one with so little time free to read so appreciate the audio versions which mean I can float around in heavenly dialogues while I work... Biggest love, thank you always for the shout out! ♥️xx

PS I am green with envy too, I have tried to record an audio but fail every time, either I'm disturbed by noise or I play back and just feel sick at the sound of my own voice - I hit delete! Oh to sound like you, or Emily or Chloe Hope or Rebecca Hooper or Holly Starley... or ether of the David's Perry and Knowles...

Come on Susie, go for it. I know you can! I too had a few false starts. Rumbling tummy first- had to go and eat some cashew nuts! i also chomped on a slice of apple they say it helps record the voice. I think my voice is weak…it is an interesting experience recording yourself. I love telling stories actually. My husband has just upgraded the quality for me this morning added the birds which I love. I tried recording on my phone first. I got it all in one take and then deleted the entire recording by mistake!! To my surprise, recording straight into the SubStack app seemed much easier and quieter than my phone.

Thank you lovely. I hope your friend is alright xxx

I have two weeks holidays beginning tomorrow evening Pipp, the forecast, despite the most gloriously warm sunny week this week, is horrendous so I am going to give it another go! Wish me luck, I will definitely need it! I am going to listen to yours again before I begin xx

Pipp Warner's avatar

Oh gosh us too. Fingers crossed for you! Though I am pretending I haven’t seen it! Actually i love all weathers but not everyone…

Maybe it will all blow over!!?

Susie Mawhinney's avatar

I really hope so... I haven't planted one seed yet! Hoping for sunny days for us both xx
