Walked at sunrise through the trees this morning. My first walk in the countryside after three weeks of city life. To my delight and surprise a huge sun greeted me on no unspoken terms approaching the track through the woods. Its fat hat sat half melted, glowing and buttery on the horizon. It made me smile from ear to ear.
So nice to be back in the countryside! I used to love the city, with its cosy cafes and traditional markets with zingful colours! Nights spent enjoying live jazz ‘til the early hours. I still love the architecture and the buzz of ideas and invention. The silent escooters and ebikes that skit past me before daybreak in a silent rush hour make me happy. So glad we are moving on from car dominated cities but my soul has learned that it feels most at home on the quiet, rugged hilltop. The sounds of the birds, the light through the trees…..Thanks to photography I know where I am happiest. Small helpings of city life and large dollops of countryside is my favourite lifestyle menu now.
I write this on a Friday eve, December eve, as the wind is starting to howl outside, for a proper wintry setting. At the same time enjoying the warm glow of the candle on the mantle piece. Cosy feel, which kind of suits this autumnal photo I took with most of the image lost in a warm orange blur. Wishing you a cosy evening too.
