Restless night meets blackbird song. It's 5am and still dark. I hear the familiar, pure notes, A solo inspired by angels. In bed we haven't spoken Just hoping sleep will return to us both. I know the curtains glow from the moonlight But I keep my eyes shut Awaiting sleep The blackbird sings some more 'That's all I need!' Says my husband to the dark. And I giggle. And he giggles back. Laughter eats the darkness As we listen some more. We smile and listen lying on creased sheets, How can you not be in love with the melody of dawn? I’ve feared my office under the sky Since I was bitten by a dog As if my thoughts snagged on barbed wire. But I am going to return. I miss walking as the day takes shape, As it is born of weather and breath and light and music. The birds capture us in their melodies. Adorning the day, Wrapping the morning into a gift, Ribbons and all. Their calls cocoon us To greet the day, Note by note, With a passion for the unknown. They speak to me of fearlessness, Of doing Of not dwelling on what was not to be. They teach in their innocence In their ignorance In their business The essence, The beauty, Of every unique day
I thank you for reading.
That is heavenly writing, would you believe I mentioned a blackbird singing at night too in my post today….
I am with you through all that glorious awakening PIpp… the birds, the hour but being bitten by a dog? You ok? I was chased twice yesterday by the dogs at the château but I chased them back waving my stick and screaming **** off in English, they got the message pretty fast, turned and ran both times… you have to show them you mean business! I learned that after the third bite!
I do hope you aren’t injured badly, I couldn’t walk for a week after the first! wretched things… healing hugs to you x
